the project

The issue in Harlem is two-fold. First, obesity and diabetes is destroying the neighborhood and, second, children do not understand where their food comes from and do not have the proper respect for the Earth.

the steps

1) Send out applications to schools, community centers, and housing projects for the Plant 2 Plate Junior Chefs.
2) Select the children for the event, July 2.
3) Gather nutritional interns for as close to a 1 Junior Chef to 1 Instructor Ratio as possible.
4) Hold the workshops on July 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th.
5) Celebrate with parents on the 30th.

why we're doing it

Plant 2 Plate Junior Chef's were created to address obesity and diabetes from Plant to Plate. This means that children involved in the summer program will learn how to prepare and eat healthy food while at the same time they learn how to grow their food with a minimal impact upon the environment.
