About the project
Introducing PEARLS Mini Closet: A Safe Space for Students
PEARLS Mini Closet was created to offer students a safe haven to obtain essential items like clothing and hygiene products completely free of charge. Originally partnering with three community schools – A.B. Hart, Glenville, and Facing History New Tech – the mini closet is open to both boys and girls. The closet provides a range of gently used clothing items from jeans to prom dresses, as well as a selection of hygiene products. Since its inception, we have been able to serve nearly 1000 students.
The goal of PEARLS Mini Closet is to help alleviate the financial burden that many families face when trying to provide their children with basic necessities. By providing a safe space for students to shop for free, we hope to empower them and boost their self-esteem. Our volunteers work hard to ensure that the closet is well stocked with a variety of items that will meet the needs of all students.
We believe that every student deserves to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, regardless of their financial situation. The PEARLS Mini Closet is just one small way that we can help make that a reality for students in our community. We are proud to have been able to serve so many students and we look forward to continuing to provide this important service for years to come.
The Steps
Taking Action: Our Simple Three-Step Plan
We have three easy steps to follow to achieve our goal. Firstly, we will conduct an audit to determine the quantity of items required at each school. Secondly, we will compile a list of the necessary items needed at each site. Finally, we will assign three individuals to shop for the three designated sites.
Date Timeline: May 2024 - June 2024
Why we‘re doing it
We believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed and that starts with feeling confident and comfortable in their own skin. By providing free clothing and hygiene products to those who may not have access to them, we hope to remove some of the barriers that prevent students from attending school regularly. In addition to our clothing closet, we also offer mentorship programs and educational resources to help young people achieve their goals. We are proud to be a part of the Cleveland community and remain committed to supporting the next generation of leaders.
At our organization, we believe that every child has the potential to become a successful leader in their own right. However, we also recognize that not every child has the same opportunities or resources to help them achieve their goals. That's why we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people by providing support and resources that are essential to their growth and development.
Our clothing closet is just one way that we are working to make a positive impact in our community. By offering free clothing and hygiene products, we hope to remove some of the barriers that prevent students from attending school regularly and feeling confident in themselves. We understand that the way a student feels about themselves can have a direct impact on their academic performance, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help them succeed.
In addition to our clothing closet, we also offer mentorship programs and educational resources to help young people achieve their goals. We believe that by providing support and guidance, we can help students overcome any obstacles they may face and reach their full potential.
We are proud to be a part of the Cleveland community and remain dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders. We believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed, and we are committed to doing our part to make that a reality.
