About the project
I chose this as my Girl Scout Gold Award Project because so many people go to the cemetery in my community and have no place to sit so I wanted to make a place for them to sit and grieve and to find peace and comfort as they remember their loved ones.
The Steps
August-September: Fundraise for this project
September: Plant the flowers, and install the benches and angel statue
September or October (weather dependent) have a ribbon cutting ceremony to make the project complete.
Why we‘re doing it
This is my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. It is the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouts. In order to earn this award, I had to identify a community need, work with a community group, create a plan and budget for my project and raise the funds to make it happen. I am doing this so that way people can sit and have time to grieve and that way it won’t take people long to get up because I know it is hard for some folks to get up of of the ground.
