About the project
Many of us have experienced feelings of anxiety, isolation, fear, or even hopelessness amidst this pandemic. Through music and conversations, we aim to create restorative experiences for people who are enduring this pandemic in the midst of also experiencing poverty or incarceration. There are logistical and technical barriers to doing so, which may require investing in technical equipment we do not yet have access to, but we are committed to finding safe and realistic ways to connect with people in this time. Though no one knows how long the impact of COVID-19 will last, we can provide a moment of solace, beauty, and encouragement in the midst of uncertainty. We hope you'll join us in creating these "pandemic interludes."
The Steps
1. Converse with our community partners to determine how we can best meet the needs of their constituents in this season.
2. Schedule a series of interactions in each community, whether socially-distanced in person or via video call, to build meaningful relationships as we implement the project.
3. Design and rehearse each program, so we can offer thoughtful, high-quality experiences.
4. Spread the word so people in each community know they are invited to join us.
5. Share music and conversations with people on the designated days!
6. Follow up with our community partners so we can continue to build mutually supportive relationships.
Why we‘re doing it
We want to share the truth of God's love with people whose life circumstances are uniquely impacted by the realities of COVID-19 (cancellation of visitiation and volunteer programs in prisons, closure of certain community centers for those experiencing homelessness, etc.) As artists, we do this both through our musical craft and by building relationships with people. We believe that every life has value, and we want to encourage people that they are not forgotten even in this difficult time.
