Location

711 Penn Ave Wilkinsburg, PA 15221

About the project

We believe in whole person wellness for our community. We are committed to the wholeness of our youth and so are launching a certified art therapy program for the families of Wilkinsburg to support the healthy development of our young people.

COMMUNITY MEMBERS HAVE ALREADY INVESTED $555 IN THIS PROJECT, AND WE ARE EXPANDING OUTREACH TO FULLY FUND THIS PROGRAM.

Painting Through Pain will focus on ten at risk teens aged 13 to 18 who struggle with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A Peace of Mind, Inc. will partner with a licensed and certified Art Therapist to use the art form of painting to counsel through an alternative medium.  Teens will be sought out through existing partnerships with community organizations.

Painting Through Pain will be offered as an educational workshop for personal development; two days a month over the span of three months.

A Peace of Mind, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(C)(3) whose services include a therapeutic art/dance/fitness studio, permanent housing, and we are breaking ground on our twenty hour childcare facility located right in the Wilkinsburg community of Allegheny County.  A Peace of Mind, Inc. has a commitment to provide quality caring therapy to a community of people that will establish a vision of peace, wholeness and enhance the quality of life.

The Steps

A Peace of Mind (APOM) will collaborate with its board and its wide network of support to raise donations for this youth art therapy program.

APOM will hire a certified art therapist to develop and deliver classes.

APOM will recruit youth through its partnerships in the community.

Youth will attend classes twice a month for three months.
