why we're doing it
The Village Mission
Operation Care Kit, a Metro Detroit based non-profit mission was founded in the understanding that ecosystems thrive most when we're working collectively, creating access to the resources that meet each individual's basic needs. The intention behind Operation: Count it all Joy is to reignite the spirit of Motown by empowering individuals and nurturing shared experiences for the purpose of reflecting our humanity. We can best accomplish this by meeting people where they are and addressing the wholeness of our needs through healing, creative outlets and resource sharing.
Operation: Count It All Joy
Annually, OCK commences mission during the coldest months of the year to meet winter needs for our homeless/homefree neighbors. "Care kits" are assembled with survival, hygienic, food and first aid supplies, distributed to over 150 people across Metro Detroit.
This year's fundraiser is a progressive expansion of our annual operations, delving deeply into how the dynamically resilient people of Detroit have always transformed struggle to soul. Operation: Count it All Joy will feature our "Creative Care Kit" in 2020, introducing a variety of tools for therapeutic expression, to empower and acknowledge the brilliance that has always walked the streets of Detroit. We invite you to join us in making history, as we collaborate to remind the world how we transform obstacles into soul & opportunity.
