New Welcome Banners for Grandview Avenue

Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) is raising funds to replace street banners and directory signs for Grandview Avenue and its neighboring business district.

Leader

Lawrence McCullough

Location

Grandview Avenue, Mount Washington Pittsburgh, PA 15211

About the project

WE WISH TO replace outdated street banners and directory signs for Grandview Avenue and its neighboring business district; the campaign is sponsored by Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) as part of our ongoing neighborhood beautification efforts.

Grandview Avenue is Western Pennsylvania’s major first-day attraction, drawing over 1.2 million visitors a year from around the world. When visitors arrive, we want to make sure they feel welcome and informed about where to find our nearby hospitality.

MWCDC will raise 30 colorful “Welcome” flags and banners in 15 languages along Grandview Avenue and install an updated Shiloh Street Shops business directory, updated street map of neighborhood businesses and updated “Thank you for visiting” sign.

The Grandview Avenue business district in Mount Washington/Duquesne Heights has been very negatively impacted by COVID-19. In this time of economic challenge, local merchants need as much support as we can give them.

Your tax-deductible donation helps us make our neighborhood and city shine!

The Steps

Our funds will be used to purchase and install:

– 17 pole banners reading “Welcome to Mount Washington”

– 13 triangular “Welcome” flags in multiple languages

– an updated Shiloh Street business directory sign

– an updated street map of neighborhood businesses

– an updated “Thank you for visiting" sign

– a new sign mounting system

Why we‘re doing it

The Grandview Avenue business district in Mount Washington/Duquesne Heights has been very negatively impacted by COVID-19.

The new banners and signs will play a major role in boosting the Neighborhood Business Development initiative of Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC).

MWCDC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1990 to guide residential upgrades, support commercial investment and cultivate improved quality-of-life in Pittsburgh’s historic Mount Washington and Duquesne Heights neighborhoods. Find out more at www.mwcdc.org.
