Mutual Aid is Love and Survival Campaign
Peace House, Ypsi needs you to be a partner in paying off the loan to purchase the house and creating an emergency repair fund
About the project
Last summer, Peace House became an entirely community-owned property. In that process, we received an interest free personal loan from a dear friend of Peace House in order to complete the cost of purchasing the home. When the COVID Pandemic hit the public health crisis that accompanied it hit those already living on the margins the hardest. Knowing that those are the very folks most needing Peace House our kind friend let us put loan repayment on hold so we could focus our resources on getting basic needs such as food and shelter to those needing it. Now we’d like to pay them back! We’d also like to ensure that the house has an adequate savings account for ongoing, needed repairs to keep us up and running for a long time to come.
The Steps
- Pay off the loan
- Start a savings account
- Continue to provide resources to our community
Why we‘re doing it
Mutual aid is how we love each other, it’s how we survive, and it’s how we will continue to ensure our communities thrive. Peace House is a hub of mutual aid and support in our community. We want our work to be able to continue far into the future as we continue to collectively build a world around caring for each other.
