the project

NPI is dedicated to reimagining vacant lots throughout Memphis neighborhoods as places of public art, urban agriculture, rest and relaxation, among other valued public places. We work alongside residents to think of possibilities and enact visions for underutilized lots near them. We think this mural will welcome Memphians to the site of the future orchard, creating a low-maintenance and inclusive space for the neighborhood to enjoy.

the steps

Funds will support the re-imagining of a vacant lot on the corner of Leath Street and Lane Avenue in the Memphis Medical District. A local artist will paint a mural on a former vacant lot to welcome residents to the orchard. The campaign will directly support the artist, the art supplies, and materials necessary to affix the mural to a fence.
