the project
We look to continue working on creating a pollinator garden. It often takes years for the plants to fillout and cover the whole area. We have worked with hundreds of individual volunteers on this project since April of 2021. We have planted over two dozen different varieties of pollinator plants.
the steps
August 2022 - reach out to a variety of local volunteers in our network to come to event
September 2022 - purchase items to thank volunteers, tools, and native plants with local organizations and volunteers.
October 2022 - have three to four gardening events over the fall with refreshments and thank you items for volunteers
April 2023 - event with volunteers to weed garden and complete planting other half of native plants
May 2023 - open garden bed with pizza party and unveil a new sign
why we're doing it
We are addressing the following problems:
(1) Our neighborhood park has been neglected for a long time.
(2) Stewardship of public spaces allows people to make positive change together.
We look to use the process of creating a welcoming space. This is an improvements for park goers as well as a way for community members that enjoy the parkland to meet one another.
