About the project
The Junior League of Memphis (JLM) is proud to partner with local Memphis mosaic artist, Kristi Duckworth, to create a beautiful mosaic staircase at Lester Community Center. We will hold workshops during our weekly G.R.O.W. Thursday night events at Lester to involve as many community members as possible. Kristi will work with the members to create, design and install tiles for the project. Kristi will share pictures of tile designs from other cultures such as African, Moari and Mexican, which will include stylized animals and patterns. Members will be encouraged to come up with their own abstract design but subjects may include basketball, nature, music inspirational phrases, etc.
The photo featured in this campaign is from the first steps Kristi created with fellow Binghampton residents as part of Grizzlies Cares Day of Service in the Fall of 2014.

Why we‘re doing it
Kristi Duckworth created a a beautiful mosaic art for the main stairs leading up to the basketball courts at Lester Community center. This was such a hit and created such a beautiful focal point that she wants to do it again for the second set of stairs leading down to the lower basketball couts.
