M&M Capital Campaign
To continue our vibrant community missions, the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne needs a new heating system for its building and therefore we have started a capital campaign called M&M (Mission & Mortar).

About the project
The City of Duquesne is the third poorest community in the state of Pennsylvania and we feel that through our missions we make a difference for good in the community and in the lives of people through our ministry.
The money from this campaign will enable us to replace our antiquated heating system that is beyond repair. With the rest of the building in good shape, this will enable us to continue our community missions in our under resourced community for years to come, such as:
- The Shared Blessings Mission Store – free household and baby items
- The Open Table Mission - helps young adults raised in poverty reach their life goals
- Community Outreach to Children and Youth Program
- The Senior Citizen Food Box Monthly Distribution to income qualifying seniors
- Duquesne Community Victory Garden – free produce for the community
- Bond of Love Parenting Classes – for parents during pregnancy through year 1
- Food & Library Boxes in the churchyard for anyone to take items
- Hat & Glove Drive for children in the community
- Christmas Toy Drive for children from families of need
- Blessing of the Children – for community children for their school year
- Host various community events: Bicycle Repair, Halloween Trunk & Treat, Community Picnics, S’more Fire Pit nights for the community
The Steps
1. The money raised/pledged so far has enabled us to move forward with Phase One of the project, which is a ductless heating system for the sanctuary and main floor of the building.
2. We will still need money to do Phase Two, which is the downstairs social room and kitchen, in continued fundraising after this campaign.
Why we‘re doing it
The City of Duquesne is the third poorest community in the state of Pennsylvania and we feel that through our missions we make a difference for good in the community and in the lives of people through our ministry. When we started this campaign, the congregational leaders admitted that the amount of money needed for a new heating system was simply not possible to raise from our congregation and therefore, it would only come from a miracle from God. Being able to do Phase One has assured us that God is doing a miracle!
