About the project

Start a neighborhood tool-lending library. This benefits everyone by making available tools that can be borrowed on an as-needed basis, and eliminating the redundancy of individual households in the neighborhood owning similar tools.

Organize a neighborhood cleanup. Cleanups show that people who use an area care about its appearance. Crime is less likely to occur when a neighborhood is clean, well lighted, and used frequently by residents and their friends. Eliminating tall weeds and debris from vacant lots and sprucing up sidewalks will make our neighborhood less attractive to criminals and more attractive to the community, which makes the community safer.

Host a neighborhood block party. Our inaugural McLemore Rembert Block Club black party was well received by the neighbors. We are excited about this years’ annual community building event, which will be bigger and better!

The Steps

The first step will be to organize and plan the neighborhood clean up and block party. This will be done through surveys that will be hand delivered to each resident in the neighborhood. The surveys will also adress the tools the residents would like to have as a part of the tool bank.

Why we‘re doing it

We are doing this to help make it more attractive to residents— and less attractive to criminals. The community clean up will improve the appearance of areas that have been previously neglected, abandoned, vandalized, or misused.  In addition such an event also strengthens the community ties of those involved in the cleanup.
