About the project

The Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation (BPNDC) is dedicated to being a leader in Detroit for creating a clean and safe neighborhood. Each year, BPNDC leads several neighborhood cleanup efforts. This year, we are kicking off our clean up efforts with more than 100 volunteers that will help us to clean and beautify our entire neighborhood. We will Beautify our parks and alleyways. We will pick up trash, plant flowers, and assist residents in need with minor outside home repair projects like; steps, banister and/or porch repair. We will also install downspout extensions and teach volunteers the importance of diverting rainwater.  Please support us as we create a cleaner, safer neighborhood with a healthier environment footprint and increased civic pride.

Why we‘re doing it

McDougall-Hunt is one of those east side neighborhoods with neighborhood blight. We have vacant land and alleyways with illegal dumping of rubbish and trash. Blight not only makes the area less attractive, it also decreases the surrounding property and poses numerous safety hazards. We have been doing small and large blight removal projects since 2014. Over the years, we have revitalized parks and public spaces throughout the neighborhood. We are working hard to increase our community impact and to be a good example of what resident led change looks like.  We want to support to be good stewards of our neighborhood while developing a sense of community by increasing interactions among our neighbors.  Most importantly, we do it because we all residents to feel safe and proud of where they live.
