the project
Within specified locations, we seek to support transit customers who cycle to MARTA stations and, for example, may need to inflate a flat tire, mend a broken chain or tighten a wobbly handlebar. Installing self-service bicycle maintenance kiosks will improve cycling safety and encourage the use of alternative transportation options. Once installed, these kiosks will be useful as the City of Atlanta and other jurisdictions within MARTA’s service area continue to expand their cycling facilities including a soon-to-launch bike share program in Atlanta.
the steps
We will work with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and other partners to procure bicycle repair kiosks and to place them in locations that will complement existing plans to enhancing the city's cycling experience.
why we're doing it
The desire for atlernative transportation options, including transit and cycling in the metro Atlanta area is growing by leaps and bounds. This project makes it easier to choose cycling and encourages MARTA riders to use cycling as a mode of last-mile connectivity. More bikes, more transit, less cars.
budget
Each Dero Fixit bicycling service station is $800 + $415 for the air kit. We can purchase three if we meet our goal, more if we beat it.
