The dog runs in Maria Hernandez Park are in need of proper resurfacing. With your donation, you'll help fund paw-safe gravel to be installed, making the dog runs safer for the Bushwick community to use!
The Steps
April 2022 - secure funding
May 2022 - purchase gravel & coordinate a delivery/install date
June or September 2022 - install gravel (weather depending)
Why we‘re doing it
Dog ownership in the neighborhood is on the rise. With the increase in dog ownership in the city comes the need for adequate dog-friendly outdoor spaces. We understand that green space in Bushwick is very limited, so we must properly maintain the only existing dog run.
The Maria Hernandez Park Dog Run was built 10 years ago and has not undergone a proper renovation since that time. With the tight NYC Department of Parks & Recreation budget, city funding to properly maintain the dog runs is in short supply.
We are calling on donors to help fund the vital repairs to make the only dog-friendly recreational area in Bushwick safe again to use!
