Hi there! We are raising money to fund our work on our TV-documentary series Made in Montreal, exploring Montreal neighbourhoods through the eyes of local manufacturers.
So, here we go...
I'm Alex ...
...I'm Steve...
....and this is Jill.
We are the founders of Made in Montreal, a non-profit passionately supporting urban manufacturing. We promote, support, and connect producers on this fantastic island of ours. We are a real community that includes ourselves along with small army supporters of helping hands, our conseil d'administration, our 300+ member businesses, and a whole network of like minded organizations in Canada and the States.
Our first episode will focus on the Chabanel neighbourhood, Montreal's historic garment & textile centre. The ball is already rolling and we are well underway to showcasing to the rest of Canada all the fantastic and creative production thats happening here in our city.
Our main partners in this project is Bell Local Montreal and award-winning Director Guy Simoneau, and we are thrilled to have them on board!
They are supplying all the technical expertise and prodcution value to the tune of about $50,000.00 for the whole series. Bell Local Montreal is covering all the costs of the director, the filming, and all the postproduction, and they are ensuring that everything will be of the highest quality. What doesn't get covered is Made in Montreal's costs for curating, connecting, writing, performing, and overseeing each of the episodes. We are looking to raise $6,500.00 to help keep Made in Montreal going and growing while filming is underway.
We start shooting Episode one the Second week of September 2014.
The manufacturing sector is under-represented in the priorities of our municipality.
We want to put people making things back on the municipal agenda, because we believe a brisk trade in tangible goods ought to be an important component of our city's economic strategy.
