TNR/Kitten season is in full force.

the project

As a community animal advocate, with these funds I will continue to spay and neuter stray cats in our community which will cut down on the overpopulation. I work with local rescues like Storm's Angels, Friendship APL and Tails from the City to place any friendly cats that are trapped. Together we have furthered this work in recent years in an effort to enhance the quality of local animal lives in Lorain.

the steps

Using humane traps, I trap the cats, take them to the vet for surgery, recover them and then return them to where they were trapped if deemed safe. I will further this work until our funds are depleted, which will likely take place during early Spring 2022.

why we're doing it

To decrease the stray/community cat population. This stops the breeding cycle of cats and improves their quality of life, for example, it cuts down on fighting and spraying. They also get vaccinated against diseases, and it is the humane option as opposed to euthanasia.

updates

TNR/Kitten season is in full force.

The season is in full swing. So far this month I have gotten 12 cats. 3 were found to be friendly and were able to get into rescue. The rest were fixed and returned to their colonies. I have already had to buy quite a bit of litter, food and pee pads for the trapping and recovery period and also 2 new traps. I unfortunately trapped a pretty sick kitty this week and will now also need to purchase medication. Thank you to all the donors/supporters for helping me do this!
