On May 16, 2015, the Levitt Shell's summer concert series open with a very exciting day for the whole family! Performing on stage is the Memphis Symphony Orchestra with New Ballet Ensemble, celebrating together the transitional power of music on our community. Titled Memphis Renaissance, the program is a collaborative project uniting people through music, voice, and dance.
Before the concert - from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, we are offering unique hands-on experiences with art, dance, story-telling and more! With 4 projects that everyone can take part in, it's fun for the whole family. Urban Art Commission will lead a mural-making project where you can help artists as they build a mural at the Levitt Shell that you'll be able to enjoy all year long! Carpenter Arts Garden is leading an arts-making project where you can have fun with paint on unique yard signs. You'll be able to proudly display your children's artwork on your lawn at home! And Spillit is leading a project that brings us all together through sharing stories and photos! Have fun in the photo booth and tell your favorite stories about Memphis, your community, or your love of music!
It's a day of community arts at the Levitt Shell! Join in the fun, and help us pay for the art materials with a $20 contribution today!

We're purchasing art supplies and finalizing the needs of our arts partners. We've also secured a rain date for the event!
why we're doing it
Our goal is that every person has an engaged experience in the arts, and finds words to describe and appreciate that experience. This event provides an opportunity for Memphians to participate in art-making and celebrate the arts-community in Memphis.
