About the project
Wesley United Methodist Church’s, Feed the Community Program joined the Fight Against Hunger over 30 years ago. When local shelters did not offer day shelter over the weekend, and resources were limited, The Historic Wesley United Methodist Church (UMC), along with other downtown churches, answered the call by providing a meal, toiletry items, clothing, and a place to escape inclement weather for individuals and families in need. Even during the pandemic, we continued the fight against hunger by offering a to go meal and delivering meals in the community. At the historic Wesley UMC we feed the mind and body through fellowship and breaking bead with our neighbors.
Feed the Community Program's primary goal is to reduce short-term hunger and play a part in poverty alleviation by providing a meal to those in need.
Your donation gives more than just food. Your donation allows us to provide nourishing meals, hygiene products, and socialization to some of the most vulnerable in our community. This program will enable people who otherwise may not be able to afford food or have a place to prepare food to receive a warm meal.
The Steps
The program operates every Second Sunday. The funds will be used to purchase:
toothbrushes and toothpaste
toiletry bags

Why we‘re doing it
