About the project
We hope this project connects the youth and Sacramento families with support, educational resources and confidence to face and identify mental health in youth. Together we can erase the stigma and provide youth with tools to get them through the battle. We hope to not only introduce visual arts as a tool but exploring the benefits of the full culture such as writing, poetry, painting drawing and photography as a long term passion to express themselves.
The Steps
We are dedicated to moving the community forward through support, arts and education, focusing on a community of youth who need a platform to be celebrated and normalized.
Why we‘re doing it
As a result of the pandemic mental health has impacted and isolated families in many ways. Statistics state our youth have silently suffered alone or been in the shadows impacted by someone who is coping with mental health illness . Youth ages six through sixteen not only battle mental health, or been indirectly impacted but they face shame and uneducated stigma surrounding the topic. We strive to change that narrative in our community by educating supporting and putting a face to mental health. Providing a platform for community to utilize the world of Art as not only a beautiful outlet of escape but a tool to cope, express and connect.
