About the project
In light of all the teen mental health crisis this play was developed to create awareness and support for such a necessary subject. I am a mom of 2 young adults and have witnessed many friends with real life situations and no real way to cope. Whether I am an ear, a shoulder, or there for advice, I want to show these teens options on how to move forward effectively and that hard times are temporary.
Our play will consist of situational skits that focuses on frustration being overwhelmed and over all mental health and life issues.
After each skit we will engage that audience about the content through Q&A. We will also talk about mental health first aid.
The Steps
Once we have the funds we will secure the venue, purchase the equipment, hire caterers, purchase wardrobe, and secure transportation. Skits and plays have shown to be very helpful. Today’s youth are wrapped up in social media and this is what they relate too. I will do the same thing but live and will have Q&A at the end.
Why we‘re doing it
Statistics shows that teen mental health issues and suicide is at an alarming rate. We want to show other positive outlets when it deals with life, bring awareness to the community about this problem, and to hopefully bring dialogue to start a solution.
