Keeping Our Melting Pot Site Safe And Secure

Melting Pot Ministries is a non-profit positive youth development organization which is dedicated to serving children and their families who are underserved by the educational, social-emotional, and cultural organizations in the suburban communities which are located south of the city of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, Melting Pot’s site does not have an updated security system in place to protect our children (K-12 grades) and our staff.

Melting Pot’s site is located on a very busy three-way highway intersection where there are numerous business, commercial and residential establishments. In light of acts of violence in schools, shopping malls and churches throughout the nation, Melting Pot believes it must do all that it can to provide a safe and secure place of learning for its children and staff. 

Through this ioby.org Jefferson Region matching program, donations are doubled up to $1,000 per donor and up to $5,000 per campaign.

Brenda Atkins – Lockley, the Executive Director and CEO of Melting Pot Ministries has obtained competitive bids from several security companies who provide security systems that are state-of-the-art and reasonably priced for schools. The estimated cost to completely secure the building would cost approximately $9,000. Melting Pot has partnered with one of its most supportive Foundation partners – Jefferson Regional Foundation.

Melting Pot Ministries believes it has a moral obligation to do all it can to protect the children and staff in its program so that they can participate in a safe and secure environment where the children can learn and flourish in a nurturing environment.  They deserve an environment that enables them to receive the educational, social-emotional and cultural tools and support that they need to successfully achieve their goals and dreams in life.
