Wow! A HUGE thank you to all of our supporters!

the project

Friends of Olmsted-Beil House aims to commission illustrator Gaby D'Alessandro, (Gaby's work has been recognized by Communication Arts, The Society of Illustrators, 3x3, American Illustration, and Latin American Ilustración)  to create a portrait of Olmsted as he may have appeared in the years he lived at Tosomock. We will use for illustration for branding in our marketing and event materials, as well as for education and art events to springboard children and adults to understand the intersection of art and environment, and building a future where all people & living environments thrive. The image will be used to expand our “Discover Landscape Architecture” free program provided for the New York City Public Schools, using Ms. D'Alessandro’s work to add creative, and collaborative, events for children. The image will be used to reach over 1,500 children and adults in the next year, building great written and visual storytelling skills that can lift up the mission of FOBH across diverse print and digital channels. Success of this project would increase our outreach and support and attract more volunteers to beautify the park, including our Pollinator Garden..

the steps

September and October 2023 - we will host  events for children and adults to share the history and stories that 17th century Olmsted-Beil House.

Fall 2023 - we will increase the “Discover Landscape Architecture” free program provided for the New York City Public Schools, using Ms. D'Alessandro’s

work to add creative, and collaborative, events for children.

Fall 2023 - we will host a "Launch Party" that will include arts and education for children and adults to unveil the illustration by Gaby D'Alessandro

why we're doing it

This provides much needed community connection, shared space, fresh air, an opportunity for our community to be outdoors, and it will contribute to the emotional well-being and connection of our community. This is so important to mental health of children and adults -which are very neglected on Staten Island. The art and culture and free event in the park, and ongoing work we will provide is critical to our community..

Thank you for the support of our generous donors for participating in our crowdfunding campaign!
