About the project
As an African American Community, June teenth is very important to us. This a time that we get together to celebrate as well as educate our children and our youth about our history and the struggles that our ancestors had to endure. Our event will be a day full of history, excitement, reflection and celebration.
Our youth will be tascked to use their creativity to celebrate this event by producing poems, music and drawings that relate directly with our ansestors before, during and after slavery. They will also be required to talk about the emaciption and how that played out to make juneteenth come about.
The Steps
Once we have the money secured we will secure the thing we need such as the portable bathrooms and sinks, as well as the food and the rest of the equipment.
Why we‘re doing it
We hope that this event will bring knowledge of our history as a people, unity, as well as open dialogue to how we can better relate and understand one another.
