About the project
Our goal for this Juneteenth is to create a day of joy and celebration for our black community members through music, art, and culture. Safer Heights will be offering free food for everyone coming to the event. The food will be catered by black-owned restaurants in the Cleveland Heights area and will feature vegan and vegetarian options. We will also be paying local artists to paint murals during the event. In partnership with Coventry Village, Safer Heights will offer tables and chairs for vendors of the black marketplace so that they can participate free of cost. With your help, we will bring hundreds of black artists and makers to Coventry Village to share their work with our community.
Join us in Coventry Village from 1-8pm on Sunday, June 19th.
The Steps
1. Fundraise $6000
2. Hire local artists to paint murals live at the event (pay them $400 each)
3. Purchase supplies for artists (paint, brushes, mediums, etc.)
4. Purchase cutlery, plates, and serving/grilling utensils
5. Order catering from local black-owned restaurants (including vegetarian/vegan options)
6. Rent two grills
5. Rent tables and chairs for vendors (NO VENDOR FEE!)
8. Host a wonderful celebration for black members of the community on Sunday, June 19th from 1-8pm in Coventry Village
Why we‘re doing it
Safer Heights' involvement in Juneteenth on Coventry is critical because we will be providing free food to the community that we live in, tables and chairs for vendors, and an incredible live painting experience by local artists. Safer Heights is making sure that no one needs to spend money to have fun on this day of celebration. This event is paramount to our community because it provides a safe atmosphere for Black people to come together in positivity and love. Last year's event drew over 5000 people in attendance, and we plan to make this Juneteenth bigger and better. Join us!
