Description: Back in 2012, Summer in the City bought the little house next door to our headquarters, knowing that it was a long way away from being a habitable home. We’ve kept it secure and it’s kept us dreaming. Now we are working to turn the dream -- of a dynamic, year-round community space -- into a reality. The humble bungalow will be able to house:

  • a lending library of paint, plant and play materials
  • co-working space for community initiatives
  • social justice (and social) programs.

Steps: The rehab is underway! We're taking things one step at a time and strategizing to make the space as accessible and adaptable as possible. We secured the funds to do the roof, plumbing and electrical. Now we have matching gifts pledged to help (you help) us go the distance.

Every donation will be matched dollar for dollar until we have the $18,000 we need to complete the project and make our 18th year the start of a whole new chapter for the organization.

why we're doing it

A lot of time passes between summers. While we aren't changing our name or taking any attention away from our 8-week season of service, we want to support community mojo and magic any time of year. Of course, the ongoing engagement will help us carry more momentum from one summer into the next.
