About the project
Youth Empowerment Gala & Sneaker Ball
We will be ending the year with our 2nd Annual Youth Empowerment Gala and Sneaker Ball. We will encourage our youth to dress up and wear their favorite sneakers. Youth champions and game changers who care about young people will gather for a fun evening where style meets philanthropy.
This celebration of sneaker culture and style will feature live music, live performances from our Sac Town Youth Night teens, along with the iSound Performing Arts Choir, youth empowerment speeches from several community leaders, great food, music and fun all in support of a great cause: our youth!
This game changing event will remind youth the importance of being an upstanding member in the community, how to stand against systemic racism, anti-bullying, taking care of their mental health, avoiding gang participation, and building opportunities to bridge the gap for music and mental health in our community.
The Steps
Once our financial campaign is completed, we'll begin purchasing items needed, locking down our vendors, catering needs, DJ and the venue for the event. WE WANT TO HIRE A GLAM SQUAD FOR THE YOUNG TEEN GIRLS HAIR STYLED AND THE YOUTH TEEN BOYS NICE HAIR CUTS ALONG WITH THEIR DRESSES, SUITS AND SNEAKERS.
Why we‘re doing it
A Snapshot of iSound Performing Arts
February 22, 2015, 20-year-old James Jackson Jr. was killed by another teen in South Sacramento. In honor of James Jr.’s life-- his father, James Jackson Sr. an Artist, and Producer decided to turn this tragedy into triumph by starting the iSound Performing Arts, a non-profit organization. The mission of iSound Performing Arts is to enhance the talents and life skills of youth within the Sacramento Community. With mental illness on a constant rise in our community, we strive to provide alternative and positive activities that will deter negative thinking among the youth. We are committed to empowering youth to excel in the arts, while creating a safe space from outside negative influences.
