About the project
The Isabahlia Healthy Food Festival is a day dedicated to educating the community about the importance about eating healthy.
The neighborhood is dominated by fast food restaurants and the health of residents is declining.
Before and during the event, we will be engaging the community in this project and are recruiting all ages to get the job done. Some will be working on the recipes for the day. Others on what food will have for cooking that day.
The Steps
Have meeting and promote the event
Identify food trucks
Recruit food educators to participate
Prepare 200 healthy food bags to give away during the event
Finalize entertainers to perform during the event
Produce 200 t-shirts for the community
Provide free smoothies at a smoothie stand
Collect 200 cook books to give away
Why we‘re doing it
The area near Livonia Avenue is filled with fast food restaurants, making it hard for many in the community to lead a healthy lifestyle. We are throwing this event to show the community that healthy food can taste great! In order for the community to thrive, residents need to reverse the health consequences caused by unhealthy food served at nearby eateries.
