the project

For 40 years, Invest in Neighborhood has empowered volunteer leaders and community organizations to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods by being the only organization that provides critical support to every single one of Cincinnati's neighborhoods.

The Community Councils, their volunteers, and their partner organizations reach and support all of the 300,000+ residents of Cincinnati, and the people who choose to live, work, and play in Cincinnati by forming the backbone of each neighborhood committed to making their neighborhoods thrive.

Invest in Neighborhoods provides training and services, financial resources, and civic engagement opportunities for FREE - help us continue supporting our members and community volunteers for another 40 years by supporting building our staff and keeping our services free.

Our work includes:

  • Leadership development to build the skills and capacity of neighborhoods to effectively do the work
    • President's 101
    • Board Basics
    • Working with and navigating the City departments and programs

why we're doing it

Invest in Neighborhoods envisions a city of engaged and effective community councils working collaboratively to build strong neighborhoods. Strong neighborhoods create vibrant and safe places to live, work and play.

Most of this work is performed by volunteers. Invest in Neighborhoods provides critical support to volunteer leaders who strive to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods and create engaged and connected communities.

When the community organizations work effectively, they make a real difference. When the neighborhoods are healthy and thriving, the city as a whole benefits.

Throughout our 40 years Invest in Neighborhoods has improved the ability of the neighborhood resident volunteers to organize, problem solve, and build upon their resources. This work benefits all, including people that live in low income communities, communities of color, and communities that have not benefited from the renewed interest in our urban neighborhoods.

Invest is a small but mighty staff and this campaign will help us to continue and increase the free support we offer to the important work that is carried out by volunteer leaders to grow and improve their neighborhood and the city at large
