By bringing art projects to our community, we aim to provide free photography classes that encourage diversity while introducing our city's many art and cultural districts to our youth. We will discuss issues within the community and how they are often displayed on film and social media. We will provide lessons on photo-capturing techniques, proper lighting, and how to get great "shots". We will allow the children to explore and use their imaginations to tell stories with their cameras. Our goal is to create new artists who will use photography to express their emotions and capture new community views.
-Schedule class speakers and photographers WEEKS 1 & 2
-Acquire photography equipment and materials WEEKS 2 - 4
-Secure transportation for students WEEKS 4 & 5
-Recruit class participants WEEKS 2- 6
-Schedule photography classes WEEK 7
-Begin district outings WEEKS 8 - 12
We want to engage youth in the community and allow them to use their imaginations through art by way of photography. They will have a close view of the city and may address current social views from their own eyes. We will explore life differences in each district, point out the economic and social dynamics of our city, and encourage expression for mental health reasons, as well as promoting physical health at a young age. We will meet an economic need by supplying cameras and free art lessons during these tough times. It has become increasingly hard for families to find free activities; this event will provide that for youth during the summer.
