the project

NHS New Haven's My Home CT program provides one-stop support for people seeking to make energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. The  My Home - Sustainable CT Match program amplifies YOUR impact by doubling your support from now until June 19. Without your donations, My Home CT  would not be possible.

My Home CT  leads to improvements in the comfort and health of customers' homes, lowers their utility bills, and helps the residential sector contribute to State-mandated greenhouse gas emissions reductions of 45% below 2001 levels by 2030 and 80% by 2050.

Here in New Haven, we've endured the record-breaking temperatures in the summer and unpredictable winters brought about by climate change. If you’re fortunate to live in a home that’s newer or that’s been updated, you likely feel comfortable inside year-round. But most New Haven residents live in older housing that lacks the air sealing, insulation, tight doors and windows, and efficient heating and air conditioning systems necessary to keep homes comfortable and healthy. They’re stuck wasting energy and paying higher utility bills, and we're all stuck wondering who's going to ride in on a white horse to fix our climate change problems. This is your opportunity to partner with NHS in tackling greenhouse gas reductions in some of the most underserved CT communities.

the steps

1. Your support helps us work with an energy engineer to analyze the most effective options for a particular property and create a data tool that allows that process to begin immediately.

2. One-on-one in-home counseling uses a data-driven process to help participants review and compare options, identify individual goals and what resources are available and appropriate to meet them, and what steps to take to complete the upgrade(s).

3. Project management services and assistance accessing resources are available to customers.

4. Participants enjoy the benefits of their initial success while energy and monetary savings of completed projects are measured and verified.

5. Participants may set a new goal and repeat the process, with some able to undertake two or even three energy-saving measures during the pilot period.

6. This program benefits homeowners, renters, landlords, people on fixed incomes, people underwater due to purchasing their home in a year when real estate was overvalued, and people interested in buying a home in the near future.

7. Tools and processes are being developed during the pilot which will be scalable to move many more Connecticut residents toward net-zero energy consumption in the coming years.

why we're doing it

NHS of New Haven promotes and practices environmentally-friendly initiatives in our target communities. We need YOUR HELP to launch the My Home CT  program. You can share in our commitment to community sustainability while helping underserved residents save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

With your support, I  My Home CT will help New Haven residents complete energy efficiency upgrades to their homes that will result in a living space that is healthier, money-saving, and more comfortable. Historically, our housing stock and demographics have not proportionally benefited from some of the energy improvement resources available. NHS of New Haven, with its decades of experience rehabilitating buildings similar to those of  My Home CT participants, is uniquely positioned to understand the complexities of serving this market effectively. And you are uniquely positioned to partner with us, by instantly doubling your donation when you give through this campaign.
