Hotter Than July Palmer Park Picnic

Before Hotter Than July existed there were not many spaces for the black LGBT community of Detroit to express themselves outside of club environments. Once the founders of Hotter Than July formed this unique week long of events, Palmer Park Picnic became the flagship program for this pride celebration. 23 years later, LGBT Detroit has been intentionally keeping the community involved in planning, bringing the resources needed for a better quality of life, and surrounding this event with love, respect, dignity and pride.

Hotter Than July Picinic is an event that brings people for all around together to celebrate in the form of music, dance, and fashion. It also provides everyone with resources that can help better their day to day lives with the many vendors/community non profits. Its a time when we can come together and have a great time loving one another. For many black LGBT Detroiters, it is their first pride experience and where you go to find people who look and feel like you. 

With your support we get to continue providing the space and environment of pride. By contributing to Hotter Than July you will help make us make this year the best Hotter Than July ever!

With the funds we will pay for the DJ &host of the picnic, secure a game truck, bouce house, & obstacle course, and other outside games and activties.

It will help us pay for gifts that we would like to give the entertainers for their time and performance. 

We are raising money for the Hotter Than July Picnic because we all believe in what it is to have a pride that is done by us for us. We believe in all the hard work that those before us have put into keeping Hotter Than July thriving year after year. We want to continue to make Hotter Than July a great experience for everyone and that is why we need the help of the community to continue to make this a success.
