About the project
Herbert Von King is a beautiful park in the center of Bed-Stuy, but the dog run areas need a lot of work. Currently the two spaces are poorly maintained, they are overgrown with brush, and dog holes collect water and attract mosquitos. I want our community's dog run to be a place where dogs and humans alike can hang out comfortably and happily. Help us clean up!
The Steps
To help us clean up the dog runs, volunteers will be coming out on Saturday, December 1st to clean up the Herbert Von King Dog Runs. We need to:
- bag and remove leaves and brush
- prune and remove vines and other plantlife from the boundary fences
- rake the dirt
- pick up and remove the garbage
- fill in the holes
Why we‘re doing it
I love the social aspect of the dog park. It brings people from all walks of life together over a common interest: our fuzzy, four-legged family members. Currently the Herbert Von King Dog Runs are so gross and overgrown, no one wants to be there too long. This project will restore the park and help re-foster a community in our neighborhood.
