Last year the Charlton Street Block Association retained The Horticultural Society of New York to revitalize Charlton Plaza.

This year we would like to continue to use The Hort to maintain the park and beautify it further.

the steps

Building on the improvements made last year, we have reduced this year's budget by $3,200. Last year we paid The Hort $12,500 to revitalize the park. This year's budget of $9,300 includes:

--Planting additional perennials

--Planting approximately 220 annuals to add more color to the park

--Planting groundcover for bare soil

--Performing regular maintenance

In addition, we have a terrific team of more than a dozen neighborhood volunteers who water the park every day during the summer. An immediate priority is to paint over the graffiti at the north end of the park. New volunteers are always welcome.
