About the project

The goal is to create a community garden and beautification treatment for the neighborhood to benefit from after the fire damaged house is demolished. Everyone in the neighborhood is ready to see the eye sore house be eliminated and the empty space be transformed into a much needed beautiful landscape in the community.

The Steps

Demolition of fire damaged house will immediately start with the demo contractor when half of the funds are collected. Estimated timeframe for complete demolition is 2 weeks. Upon completion, the remaining balance will be due to contractor. All funds collected in excess of demo project will be used to begin purchasing perennial plants to begin beautification treatment.

Why we‘re doing it

Completely demolishing the fire damaged house located next door to senior citizen's house will create a safer and cleaner environment for all in the neighborhood. Children, other senior citizens, and pets will be put in less danger with the house demolished. Since, 2010, this has been an eye sore in this community and has resulted in fire damage occuring to house next door and even a neighbor's pet drowning inside of the flooded basement due to structure being open and not secured. Recently, in 2017, Ms. Bonner purchased the house for $100 from the city land bank with plans to demolish the house and create a community garden for everyone in the neighborhood to benefit from. With demolition costs heavily being more than the purchase of the house, Ms. Bonner needs help in having this dream realized for her community to feel safe and enjoy looking outside their home to beautiful scenary instead of dilapidated structures serving no purpose.
