About the project

Sensory Friendly Dance welcomes everyone to participate in the power of dance. We produce professional live dance performances for both neurodiverse and neurotypical individuals to enjoy together in an inclusive theater environment. Our live dance performances are designed to make everyone, particularly individuals on the autism spectrum, feel welcomed and included in the arts in our community. Traditional theater and dance classroom rules are relaxed and participants are allowed to enter and exit as needed, play with fidget toys, dance, talk, sing and express themselves as they feel comfortable. Families can enjoy quality time at the theater without worry, and are provided an opportunity to connect with our community in a climate of acceptance and understanding. We are committed to making our performances accessible to the Sacramento community. In addition to keeping ticket prices at just $5 per person, we have offered 100 free tickets annually to families with a financial need.

The Steps

Your donation will the support the creation of a new performance for Summer 2023! Funds raised will cover production costs including a theater rental, scenery creation, and costuming - all elements that are vital to our programming. As thanks, for contributions of $25 or more we will send you a link to view last summer's performance of Ron Cunningham's Peter Rabbit, so you can continue to enjoy our programming over the holiday season family, friends, and loved ones. Then, in the New Year, we will announce details of our Summer 2023 performance that your donation will directly support!

Why we‘re doing it

We believe dance is for everyone, and thanks to people like you, we are able to turn that belief into action. We foster community inclusion through the arts by inviting, and providing space, for neurodiverse and neurotypical individuals to enjoy live dance performances in a climate of acceptance and understanding.
