After taking a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic, the eighth annual Heights Music Hop festival is back! This free, public event will take place one night only, on Saturday, Sept. 18, on outdoor "stages" in the Cedar Lee Business District of Cleveland Heights. The 2021 festival will showcase new musical talent from a variety of genres, including jazz, rock, R&B, classical, rap, indie, Americana and folk. the steps
The Heights Music Hop 2021 team will create outdoor "stages" at Meadowbrook/Lee, Cedar Lee Mini-Park and in front of S'Wonderful Gifts in the Cedar Lee Business District. Small acts/buskers will be placed along the street. Performances will feature new musical talent from a variety of genres, including jazz, rock, R&B, classical, rap, indie, Americana and folk and will occur from 5 to 11 p.m. Local businesses are encouraged to offer food and drink specials for attendees of this free, live music festival.
why we're doing it
FutureHeights, a nonprofit community development corporation, presents the event to invite visitors to experience new, local music in the vibrant, walkable business districts of Cleveland Heights. In the past, performances have occurred within local businesses, who helped sponsor the event. This year, in order to ensure the safety of participants, performances will take place on outdoor "stages" throughout the district. This has increased the costs to present the event as we need to provide power and equipment to the outdoor "stages," and local businesses, recovering from the pandemic, are unable to be as supportive as in years past. We are appealing to the public to help us present this free, live music festival this year.
