the project
The event is a partnered event with Empowered Hands. Empowered Hands is a small company that specializes in securing employment for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. We are presenting the 2nd annual Fashion and Art Show; Hearing Across Cultures. The event is befitting those of the deaf community. The event is in celebration of and embracing the deaf and hard of hearing community. Hearing Across Cultures will feature mostly deaf artists and designers who will showcase their artwork and fashion as a representation of their individual self, deafness and/or culture. We created this event to give exposure to Deaf, HOH and disenfranchised creatives. We want the community to see that there are much more to an individual than their disabilities. These individuals are capable of achieving high levels of success.
The funds raised for this event will be going towards providing scholarships awards to the creatives and event expenses. We are aiming to do this event annually.

why we're doing it
We created this event to give exposure to Deaf, HOH and disenfranchised creatives. We want the community to see that there are much more to an individual than their disabilities. These individuals are capable of achieving high levels of success. The Art and Fashion Showcase will demonstrate the spontaneous talents of the deaf and hard of hearing community. This showcase, is the 2nd annual Empowered Hands hosted event that serves to edify the deaf and hard of hearing community and its supporters. Vi Yan Re, my "brand" was the main reason for the encouragement of this event. I, Cyndi, am also a deaf creative.
