the project

Go Golf Manor was established as a non-profit organization for the Village of Golf Manor, OH in order to be the bridge between its residents and Village Council as well as the residents between each other. Go Golf Manor soon saw the strong desire of the community to draw closer together for the betterment of all, especially the children. Knowing the importance of literacy, GGM decided to build Little Free Libraries in the community for residents to fill with books and mingle with one another. Now that COVID has made indoor gathering challenging, it is even more vital to have safe outdoor spaces where neighbors can bond over the latest books they've read and get to know one another better. These libraries will foster a love of reading among children and adults alike.

Our goal is to install at least 10 libraries around the Village of Golf Manor. Each steward family will be able to personalize their library with decorations and the books they choose to initially fill it with. Then all of their neighbors will be able to "take a book and leave one too." We are raising this money to be able to subsidize the cost of each library, adopting a "pay-as-you-can" model, so that it isn't cost-prohibitive for any of our residents who want to become a steward of a library. We also hope to officially register the libraries with the Little Free Library organization so that we can gain access to their support system and put each library on the worldwide map of libraries, increasing foot traffic.

the steps

We will take the funds and use them to subsidize the cost of a library for any resident who is unable to pay the full price. Once each of the libraries are claimed, we will have a grand opening/installation day in May 2021 where we install the libraries on their posts and open them for use by all of our residents.

why we're doing it

“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” — Frederick Douglass

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss

"There are many little ways to enlarge your world.  Love of books is the best of all.” – Jacqueline Kennedy

“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.” – Kofi Anan

Without books, the world would be a much darker, much more boring place. All we hope to do is bring a little more light and joy to our neighbors by establishing these libraries in our village.
