The Gluszek Food Drive
The Gluszek Food Drive began in 2017 as a small food drive. Now over the past 6 years we have raised over 60,000 lbs of food for the local community!

About the project
This year the annual Gluszek Christmas Food Drive will kickoff on Friday, November 25, at 5 pm. As always, the event will be kicking off the season with a Grand Opening Lighting Ceremony and Stuff the Bus Event! The Creamery truck will be there selling hot chocolate, ice cream and other seasonal goodies!
This year the holiday lights will be on every night from 5-10 pm starting November 25, until December 31st.
All are welcome to donate food in the food drop box in front of the house at any time during the day or night. The address is 3939 147th Place, Midlothian Illinois, 60445. All donated food goes to local food pantries and families in need.
Dylan Gluszek, of Midlothian began the food drive in 2017, as a freshman at Bremen H.S. An English teacher there, Mr. McKinnon, inspired him to think big and come up with an idea to make a difference for others. Dylan enjoyed decorating his home with Christmas lights, which he felt made his neighbors and friends happy and put them in a holiday spirit. He decided to take the holiday decorations one step further and create a food drive, to help those in need.
The Gluszek Christmas food drive has been running for 5 years. According to Dylan, because of the generosity of others, there has been enough food collected to feed thousands of families in the local community!

The Steps
Once we get the monetary donations we will go out and purchase food. We will mostly buy the things that we need more of. Things that pantries need but we haven’t received much of from donations.
Why we‘re doing it
We have helped the local community for 6 going on 7 years and we will do so for a long time!
