GWC organizes free tours of private and community gardens in the city of Cleveland. Visitors explore neighborhoods and see how much the city is "greening." In 2017 Detroit-Shoreway and Collinwood is our focus.

GardenWalk Cleveland 2017 (GWC) is a free, self-guided tour of private gardens and community gardens in the city of Cleveland over a weekend in July.
1. Date decided: July 8th and 9th, 2017
2. Identify gardens through our garden finders. Invite gardeners to apply online. Any gardener in the selected neighborhoods can show their gardens on the walk.
3. Raise additional funds.
4. Develop marketing materials, design for poster and postcards, update website use Facebook.
5. Logistics committee recruits volunteers and find headquarters for each neighborhood.
6. Identify workshops for gardeners focusing on rain gardens, rain barrels, native plants and pollinators, and composting.
7. Compile information for gardeners about native plant sales in the region and sources for native plants
8. Design and print the Guide with maps for the walk.
9. Distribute guides throughout NE Ohio.
10. Day of walk, gather data about visitors, number, zip codes, feedback.
GardenWalk Cleveland's mission is to nurture community, break down barriers, beautify neighborhoods, and promote civic pride in the city of Cleveland through the power and rewards of gardening. In 2017 GWC is especially interested in focusing on native plants that promote regional diversity, attract wildlife and pollinators, thrive under natural conditions, and connect people to nature in their own back yards.
