the project

The LPH Collective is gearing up our first art show in our new gallery/studio, Outerspace. We cannot think of a better way to celebrate than honoring the unsung heros of Lower Price Hill through the Gallery of Neighbors. 5 people will be selected through a process of nominations and awarded $100 cash and a certificate of excellency. The body of work presented in the gallery will be large printed potraits, taken by a professional photographer, of the 5 awardees. The event will kick-off with the award ceremony, where the honored guests will have the opportunity to say a few words, followed by a dance party and BBQ!

why we're doing it

Lower Price Hill is the most tight-knit community in Cincinnati. We know that is a bold claim but spend even just a day here and you will feel the sense of family on every corner. The neighborhood is concentrated in a historic district that consists of 4 blocks, yet we are very isolated from resources which means we rely on each other and care for each other in way that is very unique, because we are all family. That translates into all of us being community builders in some way, and that is worth celebrating.

Co-founder of the LPH Collective, Kachelle Cunningham, is an integral leader in her neighborhood and thinks that everyone deserves to celebrated and seen and heard. This is why she wanted to create a space where all are welcome and included in the community development process. Gallery of Neighbors is the manifestation of everything Kachelle loves about her home- LPH.

In a neighborhood that is saturated with "programs" and nonprofits, it can be difficult for us to see that we have the power to make change, just by being good neighbors. We hope to show the grandma who feeds any kid that walks in her door, or the guy who makes it a part of his daily routine to pick up trash on the street that we see them and we value them.
