the project

The Fire Escape Club will promote the creation and growth of family gardens on private fire escapes in Crown Heights. Club members will meet monthly to share stories, exchange seeds and gardening materials, and eat a delicious potluck meal (straight from members' fire escape gardens!).

the steps

1.  Invite members of the community to join the club.

2.  Meet with potential club members to discuss what they would like to get out of this project.

3.  Buy seeds and materials to distribute to club members.

4.  Hold meetings to discuss gardening techniques over delicious potluck dinners composed of the fruits and vegetables that club members grow.

why we're doing it

The Fire Escape Club would be a great tool to get neighbors to start talking to each other!  Not only would it be a great icebreaker -- It will unite buildings, blocks, and neighbors over fresh, homegrown meals, while growing a healthy community, too!

Gardening tools, soil, pots, and seeds = $600
