the project

Imagine success, now imagine 4 weeks from now...

The success of Feed The Soul Food Movers is simple. Deliver food to families who need it. We are a collaborative delivery team that bridges the gap between food distributors and at-risk communities. We promote food security, sustainability, and education. Now, visualize an ecosystem that relies on one another to thrive and build connections that uplift communities. That's Feed the Soul Food Movers

Feed the Soul was founded in March of 2020 at the beginning of a pandemic, where uncertainty lied the most. We collaborated with local organizations such as Freethinkers Since 87, Project Save, F.A.R.E., Garden Valley Neighborhood House, New Era Cleveland, Environmental Health Watch, and more, to later form stronger partnerships.

After 5months, we merged our mission with The Food Movers, a local food rescue company,  located in Cleveland Ohio, to pool our missions in servicing the communities who are most vulnerable. Feed the Soul Food Movers are expanding our SoulCLE community by committing to our mission of delivering food to families who need it.

Feed The Soul-Food Movers take pride in partnering with organizations whose missions align. We've partnered with the profound Garden Valley Neighborhood House, a local food pantry here in Cleveland Ohio who typically serves 11,000 families per year. For 6months we've had the opportunity to pilot our delivery program who delivered to more than 500 families per month during that time.

As we transition into our new space and expand our programming we will continue to follow in our partner's footsteps and provide our services throughout Cuyahoga County. As well as keep our ecosystem going by providing delivery services to their seniors. As it relates to the support from funds raised, we will focus on providing delivery services to the ZIP codes we see the most demand in which are 44104, 44105, 44103, 44120, 44109, and 44115.

Feed the Soul-Food Movers will have the capacity to upgrade from u-haul rentals to owning our own transportation which allows us to expand our service area due to no mile restrictions. In addition to that, we will be able to prepare our warehouse space to become a full pantry in partnership with the Cleveland Foodbank, while still providing a portion of our volunteers from the community with stipends to promote workforce development. While our mission is to raise enough to cover all of our expenses, purchasing a refrigerator and freezer as well as shelves to pass our FRIDAY OCTOBER 16th, 2020 Inspection with the Cleveland Foodbank is Feed the Soul-Food Movers most urgent need to continue servicing our families.

the steps

Please keep in mind FTSFM have been piloting our program for 6months, we are looking to raise funds to expand and continue our food delivery programming as we transition.

1. Purchase Materials ( Van, Refridgerator, Tables, Shelves etc.)

We've spent the last 3 months pricing vehicles, as well as asking other organizations, and renting vehicles, and researching equipment to find a good fit for our organization

2. Install equipment at our warehouse

After purchase delivery to warehouse and set-up will prepare us for our inspection

3. Foodbank Inspection (FRIDAY OCTOBER 16th, 2020)

The Food Bank will inspect our space for both sanitary purposes as well as refrigeration for dairy products

4. Pallet Drop off ( END OF OCTOBER DATE TBD, 2x's per month ongoing)

Upon passing our inspection we are eligible for 350 boxes of non-pareshiable foods to deliver to seniors throughout Cuyahoga county. We currently have 250 seniors who depend on these boxes on a monthly basis, with a waitlist of more than 50 seniors awaiting a call.

5. Continue Delivering while preparing to expand our service list.

We will continue to service a smaller portion of our list as we transition into our new space.

6. Remove families from the waitlist and add them to the distribution

Upon having transportation, delivery drivers, logistics in place, and food to distribute we will remove families from our 300+ waiting list and begin servicing 2 x's per month.

7. Intake Specialist will contact families to complete the program registration

All families are required to have an application on file, due to the number of families we serve we found it best to hire a bilingual intake specialist.

8. Project manager will continue to build out our logistics system as we transition.

why we're doing it

Each partner of the SoulCLE community collaborative has direct connections to the communities we serve. Garden Valley Neighborhood House has been a local food pantry distributor in Cuyahoga County for more than 10 years and has been a beacon to each of us in carrying on food distribution to families in low-income areas. Feed the Soul-Food Movers why is built around our mission to build economic and social justice through awareness and education, workforce development, self-sufficiency, health, and wellness in poverty-stricken communities. Which all starts with building relationships through food.
