The goal and mission of the FTN Project is to always share a little lunch, love and light with those who are less fortunate. From our on-site distribution to our Care-A-Van service, we make sure that everyone gets something.
Our proposed service dates for our project are November 18th, December 16th and January 20th. Shopping is usually done through Amazon or online shopping vendors to ensure delivery. Kits are prepped the week before our serve days by volunteers and meals are typically prepared and packaged the morning of the event. We work to prepare enough for 125 guest monthly and for emergency help needed in between.
Our project was birthed during the pandemic as we saw an increased need for assistance for people who consider themselves less fortunate but don’t meet federally regulated poverty guidelines or qualify for public assistance benefits. Some households we devastated by double layoffs, school closures and programs shutting down which left a lot of homes in deficit and desperate for support. Our first family had been denied assistance benefits for being above the guideline by $1.56. Most of these families live in impoverished areas that are also considered food deserts and low income neighborhoods. We wanted make sure that everyone had something to help them sustain, have hope and receive support.
