In response to the high need for food resources due to COVID-19, Feed Las Vegas has made it our mission to bring food security back to our locals as well as to serve as a resource for our houseless community. As of August 25th, Nevada's jobless rate is 17.3% while our cost of living is 3% higher than the national average. So what are we doing to ensure everyone receives the help they need during our unprecedented COVID times? With a monthly budget of $4500, we are able to hold a minimum of 4 community outreaches per month. During these outreaches, we will be giving back to our community through the distribution of hot meals via drive-by/walk-up style per CDC guidelines as well as partnering with other community organizations to service neighborhoods in need.

Our initial process of these events are as follows:

Two days in which we service all Las Vegas residents and our houseless community with a family dinner drive (hot meals-to-go enough for a family of 4) with a produce bag and kids snack bag. Kids snack bags are to be verified with kid's school ids and ID must be present for meal pick-ups. Events will last until all food has been given away. Allocated dates and times are to be assigned. Success will be measured through the count of ids verified at the time of pick-up, there will be two check-ins (with CDC guidelines in place) provided to assist with this. 

Aside from financial donations we also accept the following:

  • fresh grocery produce/poultry/dairy that can be passed out to families in need or used in our dinner giveaways.
  • single-wrapped foods and bottled drinks that can be passed out to our displaced communities
  • pet supplies, camping supplies, and hygiene/sanitary products for our displaced families and those in need.
  • gift cards of any denomination and quantity

the steps

  • Shopping of needed produce/supplies occurs 2 days prior to event days
  • Meal prep begins 1 day prior to event
  • Snack bags can be produced during meal prep days
  • Event setups will take place 2hrs prior (table set up for pick-ups)

 

why we're doing it

COVID-19 brought tough times amongst us all. We're just here to spread a little community love and feed you like family. Vegas strong is stronger together.

$500 monthly kitchen space rental

$1000 per community outreach day (4 per month)

     - $800  produce/meat needed (enough for 1000 servings)

     - $200  to-go food containers/bags
