the project

The Dreamers will organize group exercises and contest between the girls and boys @ recess. They will compete in track drills to prepare for March races. We will work with the school aides and help coach 100 kids each day. Over the course of a month we want to be able to work with every single student in P.S. 128.

The Title IX Girls team will be jr coaches at lunchtime. They are key to us working with many students. The school aides will be responsible for safety. The boys learn to listen as the TitleIX girls prove the importance of hard work.

the steps

We will provide coaching, equipment and staffing to get this project done. The main thing is expertise. Few folks are trained to work with 50 kids at a time age 5-11 in an auditorium. Safety and enthusiasm are the key. So we sing instead of screaming. The jr buddy coaches are trained to help like a buddy and not like a bully so that kids want to try.

why we're doing it

Many kids lose a chance to participate in team sports because they are in certain programs or busy on the week-end. Girls especially have a tough time finding a place where they can learn to get in shape. Our girls will lead the way and the boys will be more disciplined by learning to respect them. When the races come March 4th and 24th, girls and boys age 5-11 will be ready. Recess will be practice. The kids will learn the sport and the history of it.

Team Dreamers Facebook post. 12.31.16 Team Dreamers Title IX Girls Sports @ PS128 Lunch Time Initiative - NEEDS YOUR HELP!! The Dreamers have been training middle-school students for "Girls Sports Day", the "Washington Heights (Coogan’s) Salsa, Blues & Shamrocks 5K Race", and the "Armory Youth Championships" for years. Now, they need your support to expand this successful program to enable more kids to participate. Public funding for community-building programs like this one have been cut dramatically. DONATE TODAY what you can (tax deductible) to enable the Dreamers to achieve their goal to fund their program for 2017. This crowdfunding effort goes until January 23 --- to raise over $10,000, a small amount considering how many kids have benefited in many ways from Coach Dave's inspiring programs. We gave, and hope you will too. Happy New Year!! Bruce & Lynne The Team Dreamers is an AWESOME program!! Coach Dave and his Student Leaders have been benefitting middle-school students for years. Now, they need your support to expand this program to enable more kids to participate. Public funding for creative, community-building programs like this one are long gone. We've seen the Dreamer's in action and its' worth every penny you can donate. Please support the future leaders of Uptown Manhattan. Thank you. Happy New Year! Bruce & Lynne

Title IX is the Dreamers favorite law.Especially the part that demands the same chances for boys that girls receive. The girls lead the way and demand that the boys keep up. Its amazing to watch them battle and compete with the boys when given a chance.
