About the project

For two Octobers past, we have stepped beyond the veil to the Fall Phantasm. The portal opened betwixt land and sky where beings from many realms met for a celebration like no other. Sprawled across the Lakenenland Sculpture Park, we ride the potent magic of this time, illuminate the night with dance and song; share food and stories; and honor all things mystical and wondrous.

The Fall Phantasm is a festival incorporating all elements of the arts into one night designed to immerse attendees in another world. This event combines live music, theatre & dance, an immersive market, activities, and an array of vendors under a common theme.

Marquette Fringe is seeking to bring back the Fall Phantasm: Festival of Myth & Fire on October 7th, 2023. Due to the event's success last year (1.2K attendees!), we are reaching out to the community to help bring its return. If we can reach our crowdfunding goal of $5000, we will be able to provide this unique experience once again!

The Steps

May 9th- Crowdfunding deadline

May 10th- Board Meeting and event decision made. Depending on our fundraising progress we will determine if, and at what scale we can produce this event in 2023. If we do not meet our goals, we will postpone to 2024.

May 12th- Participant forms live on our website. Applications will be open for performers, vendors, musicians, media, and production and event volunteers.

May-June: Casting, event marketing launch, production development

July-August: Rehearsals, build production, immersive planning & factions, vendor and musician fulfillment

September: Finalize schedules and maps, last event marketing push, production organization, volunteer fulfillment

October 5th-Setup begins

October 7th: Fall Phantasm: Festival of Myth & Fire event day!

Why we‘re doing it

The spirit of Marquette Fringe is embedded in the history of worldwide events known as Fringe Festivals. In Scotland, 1947, several theater companies sought entry to the first Edinburgh International Festival. Those companies were denied a spot, but they were not deterred. Instead, they performed their works on the outskirts in unordinary spaces. Thus, the spirit of Fringe was born and continues to accentuate the value of unconventional artists to this day. Now, over 250 Fringe Festivals are hosted globally.

Marquette Fringe strives to continue the history of Fringe Festivals by providing an accessible platform to create, participate in, and experience art.

As our organization grows, we will continue to engage community members in their creative pursuits in various ways. Our goal is to facilitate local artists in their own ventures, invite them to participate in our events, and offer the support network needed to do what they love, here, in this place we all love, the Upper Peninsula.
