About the project
Help the the Stewards of Ewen Park expand our work and grow and become more independent through the purchase of tools and an internet domain, website, and email list serve subscription.
Our group strives to beautify the park and engage the neighboring community. This modest fundraising goal will assist us in connecting with even more neighbors, working more efficiently on the beautification and upkeep of Ewen Park, and improving the lives of all who enjoy this gem.
The additional tools we will purchase will be used during our bi-monthly clean-up events and remove the need for us to coordinate tool procurement from Partnerships for Parks for every event. The money for website and list serve would be used throughout the winter while park work is slower to establish a strong administrative infrastructure, through which we can maintain a database of volunteers and supporters, establish a web presence for better communications, and create an archiving location for our work.
The Steps
We plan to procure the items listed in the winter of 2021-2022 so that we can capitalize on the momentum of the group leading into the spring.
Why we‘re doing it
Ewen Park receives a great deal of traffic as a right-of-way between Riverdale and the Kingsbridge neighborhoods. Within its small borders there is a toddler playground, a dog run, a basketball court, and a steep hill, which is a popular sledding spot in the winter and an excellent exercise and picnicking spot in the warmer months. It is not uncommon for local youth sports teams to meet here and run up the hill for training. So many people enjoy and depend on this park and we strive to keep it looking beautiful and feeling safe.
